The Chamber of Commerce of the Town of Shediac is sponsoring its fourth annual sanctioned SCRABBLE tournament this year, to celebrate the birthplace of the earliest known crossword board game. All events to be directed by John Chew.
All competition takes place at the Multipurpose Centre at 58 Festival Street (Centre multifonctionnel, 58, rue Festival), two blocks east of the Hotel Shediac. Lost or late? Call John Chew at (416) 876–7675.

Clocks will be started promptly to maintain the above schedule, and any player who misses a scheduled game may be removed from subsequent pairings until they return and the next pairings are calculated.
The nearest airport to Shediac is Moncton (YQM), with connections to Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal; it is a 21-minute drive from the tournament site.
We have a small block of rooms held at the Hotel Shediac available for booking until August 27. In the block are six rooms with two queen beds at $129+tax per night, nine executive king rooms at $139+tax per night, and two wheelchair-accessible king rooms at $139+tax per night. To obtain the group rate, please call the hotel directly at +1 855 836 6100 or +1 506 532 6100. It’s the last busy weekend of the season, and in the past the hotel has always sold out, so we encourage you to book early. If they’re full though, there are plenty of other places to stay in town (one popular choice is Le Griffon B&B) within easy walking and driving distance.
