Round 21: Before going into the exciting detail of the very last game of the Tournament, there are some big THANK YOUS to perform! The first one must be to Theresa Brousson (nee Camilleri) who as Organiser and Tournament Director has played a huge part in making the event so successful. She has worked tirelessly for some months to put the whole package together and with the help of David Delicata on the finances the event has gone off as smoothly as one could expect, especially as the hotel is a new venue. Next the Malta Scrabble Club would like to give John Chew, our webmaster, a huge thank you for running the Tournament using his tsh software and managing all the computers, printers and the internet streaming. A big thank you to all the sponsors - Malta Tourism Authority, KMS, Dell Computers/Intercomp, Vascas, Scotts Supermarkets, Tilefish, Alliance Cruises, Proprint, and Seiko UK Ltd. Another thank you to Amy Byrne (Tilefish) for providing 10 complete Scrabble sets for the Tournament, without which there would have been insufficient boards to play the Tournament! A big thank you must go to the Seashells Resort at Suncrest and particularly Karl Abela, the Sales Manager and the rest of the hotel staff who have made sure that everyone's stay has been enjoyable. The prizes were presented by Arthur Castillo, the owner of Vascas who provided the very attractive prizes for the Tournament and a big thank you for coming to the Hotel on a Sunday afternoon to carry out the task. The last round is strict KOTH and the top table game is between Craig Beevers (Eng) and Mohammad Sulaiman (PAK) a repeat of game 20. It was a very hard fought match with Mohammad keeping the edge. The bonuses played were; INTINeS, COERCES, and INHALER and the game was finally won by Mohammad 469-392, which makes him the 3rd MISO Champion - Congratulations. Craig Beevers (Eng) was 2nd with the same game score 16-5 but a spread of 1020. Nigel Richards (NZL) was 3rd on 15-6, spread 18883, Evan Cohen (ISR) was 4th on 15-6, spread 822, and Jared Robinson (Eng) was 5th also on 15-6 and a spread of 771.
