Round 15.

Everyone assembled this morning just before 9am - some had been to Mass and the others had probably had a lie-in before everyone had a hearty Maltese breakfast - a combination of English and European cuisine. I have not yet been able to establish who went to the Casinos and Discos last night - maybe their play will reflect their nocturnal activities.

If one ever visits Malta, one must have a taste of their fantastic bread which is baked in various shapes and sizes, but it has a unique taste and crustiness that one just cannot find anywhere else in the world. Maltese potatoes are also uniquely tasty and one of the National dishes is rabbit stew - when cooked the Maltese way there is nothing quite like it!

The overnight standings left David Webb (Eng) out on his own with 12 wins/2 losses. Lukeman Owolabi (NGA) is right behind with 11-3, followed by 4 players on 10-4 - Phil Robertshaw (Eng), Philip Nelkon (Eng), Cecil Muscat (MLT), and Theresa Brousson (MLT). Lying 7th is Mike O'Rourke (Eng) 9.5-4.5-5. Chris Keeley (Eng) brackets this group with 8.5-5.5 - rueing the day he could not squeeze that extra point from Mike!

On Table 1, Lukeman Owolabi and David Webb had a good game. The final score was Lukeman won 478-355. Lukeman played 3 bonuses: AXEBIRD, CARNIES, and MATRONS. David played 1 bonus: INTRINCE. They shared the two blanks, but Lukeman had the more flowing tiles - that's Scrabble!
