Round 3

After Round 2 Philip Nelkon (Eng) found himself at the top of the leader board with 2 wins and a spread of 768 - an impressive start! Philip is responsible for the Sales and Marketing of Scrabble (made by Mattel Inc.) around the globe, with the exception of the USA I believe, and runs the World Scrabble Championships which are being held this year in southern Malaysia. The local Maltese players are holding up well with three players in the top six - Theresa Brousson (MLT), Jojo Delia (MLT) and Mario Saliba (MLT). Phil Robertshaw (Eng) is still on Table 1 battling it out with Nicky Vella-Laurenti (MLT), the President of the Malta Scrabble Club. Phil edged ahead after two bonus scores with RAIMENT and ETOURDIE. Most of the players appeared to finish the third round in undue haste as they must have got a wiff of the coffee, cakes and biscuits awaiting them in the anteroom. Healthy appetites and Scrabble seem to go together.
