Round 18

David Webb (Eng) and Lukeman Owolabi (NGA) are playing once again on Table 1. David had no consonants on his first rack so changed. Lukeman then kicked straight off with NEONAtE with a blank. David picked some good tiles and hit straight back with SITZmARK, with the other blank, and a couple of plays later he played CORNMEAL. A few plays later Lukeman played OERSTEDS and after David replied with HEX, their scores were Lukeman 348 David 343. Nip and tuck!! A few moves later David bonus-ed out with DRAISENES for 83 and pulled ahead 451-395 and counting unused tiles final score was 473-395

With the only draw of the Tournament, so far, Chris Keeley (Eng) and Mike O'Rourke (Eng) are now bracketing the 7 players with 11-6 wins/losses, with Chris on 11.5- 5.5 and Mike on 10.5- 6.5. I wonder whether that half point is a help or a hindrance!

The weather outside in the real world is sunny and warming nicely to a maximum of 21C- much the same is happening in the hall. At the end of round 18, David is out on his own again with 15-3 wins/losses, Lukeman with 14-4 and Theresa Brousson (MLT) on 13-5.
