Four games to go now, without a break. Some people are looking a little tired, others seem happy that their opponents are tired.

In the annotated game at Board 1, it's Kevin Synnott (Eng) vs. Mikki Nicholson (Eng). The game was close all the way through, and could have gone either way in the end, but came down to Kevin having consonant heavy racks at the very end, Mikki having mostly vowels, and Kevin being able to score better with what he had.

Evan Cohen (ISR) extends his non-losing streak to five games with a 428-354 win over Chinedu Nosike Okwelogu (NGA), overtaking Mikki by half a game to lead the division 11½-2½ to Mikki's 11-3.

In third place for the first time is Yi En Gan (DEU), who trounced Carmel Dodd (AUS) 572-385. Theresa Brousson (MLT) lost her game against Helen Gipson (Sco) 358-411, which moves Theresa and Carmel one game behind Yi En at 9-5, along with Helen, Kevin and Jayne Mackenzie (Eng).

In the B Division, Margaret Armstrong (Eng) also has a five-game winning streak and keeps her three-game lead with a 426-337 win over Jim Lyes (Eng). There were four players three games behind her at 9-4 at the start of the round. Brid Ni Bhriain (IRL) beats Pawlu Frendo (MLT) to retain second; Jim Wilkie (Sco) beats Pauline Cilia (MLT) to stay in third. Albert Zammit (MLT) and Geoff Cooper (Eng) lose to Maureen Hoch (ISR) and Linda Barratt (Eng).

Judith Puttick (Eng) loses a close game, 357-387 to Bronagh Kenny (IRL). She has now lost six games by a total of only 76 points.
