Omri Rosenkrantz's (ISR) 460-512 loss to Raymond Tate (Sco) is the highest one so far. It's also the highest combined game score, though it isn't close to some of the games we had at the European Open.

Chinedu Nosike Okwelogu (NGA) is having a hard time with intermediate players, losing another game to a player rated 500 points below him: this time 284-419 to Nicky Vella-Laurenti (MLT).

The round started off with six players at 5-1, nobody undefeated. Fortuitously, they're all paired with each other, so only three players will advance to 5-1. Theresa Brousson (MLT) plays Jayne Mackenzie (Eng), Mikki Nicholson (Eng) plays David Delicata (MLT) in the annotated game at Board 1, and Yi En Gan (DEU) plays Evan Cohen (ISR).

Theresa ends the day with a 484 average, leading the field again. She is top among the three 6-1s, +953 to Mikki's +782 and Evan's +231. Tomorrow morning, Mikki will face Evan first thing, while Theresa plays fourth-place Nicky Vella-Laurenti (MLT), the leading 5-2.

In Division B, Margaret Armstrong (Eng) starts the round undefeated, ahead of Maureen Hoch (ISR), Jim Wilkie (Sco) and Bronagh Kenny (IRL) on 5-1. After Margaret beats Maureen, Jim beats Gila Blits (ISR) and Bronagh beats Mario Seychell (MLT), Margaret ends the day still undefeated, followed by Jim and Brid Ni Bhriain (IRL). Mario has a 437 average, the best in the division, but is in fourth place! In Round 8, Margaret plays Brid and Jim plays Maureen, because Margaret and Maureen have already played.
